Welcome to our site devoted to Gordon setters of Gordon Xope kennel.

Starting from 1995, these remarkable, noble representatives of pointing bird dogs have always lived in our family. We love Gordon setters infinitely for their bright wits, boundless devotion, nobility and sincere affection towards all family members.

My endless love to Gordons started with a bitch named Vona Scarlett (Scarlett at home). She became my first dog after I left my parents who always had dogs in the house and who fostered my love in this breed from childhood. Scarlett became not only the best friend for me, she became a dearest creature who gave love and affection to me. She acquainted me with the world of dog shows. It is due to her that I saw other Gordons for the first time — those of show type. Scarlett taught me to comprehend and love Gordons. She realized my dream – presented gordon puppies to me, the first in Russia, from a gorgeous male dog of American show type. The Gordon Хope kennel started right with Scarlett. This site devoted to Gordon setters was named after Scarlett.

In this website we shall acquaint you with our dogs and the dogs of our friends; we shall do our best to tell you about the remarkable world of love between man and dog.

We have three Gordons living in home: Gordon Хope Absolute (Absolute), Gordon Хope Aurora (Aurora) and her daughter Gordon Xope Vanity Fire (Vanya). Aurora and Absolute were born from lovely Skarlett and magnificent Kingpoint Academy Award (Oscar). Vanya is Aurora's daughter from beautiful Kingpoint Everywhere (Pinta).

Aurora is very affectionate and moving dog, she is able to read one's thoughts by one's eyes, and she always guesses my wishes before I voice them! It is hard to imagine a dog that would be more obedient and agreeable! Aurora is a foodie, she spends many hours near the kitchen table in hope to treat herself once again to food from «Mom's» or «Dad's» hands. Kitchen is her favourite place at home. The only place where she forgets about food is the forest and the field. There she turns into a true reckless and indefatigable hunter. Here she is truly happy! We really enjoy watching her in the field!

Absolute is a lover of noisy celebrations. He enjoys having guests in the house – equally treats well people and dogs! He may play for hours in a company of little puppies, turning into a small light doggie from a 35-kilogram setter for a time! And he does it well! Absolute is a real «king of the parties» - he enjoys being at a place housing a lot of dogs and people, therefore we always take him to dog shows. Besides, he is a brilliant hunter who will never miss a chance to offer himself for a walk in the field. Absolute feels really offended when Aurora is taken for hunt instead of him.

Vanity - the most independent and most calm dog in the house. Even as a small puppy, in her behavior has always attended the dignity and nobility inherent in the adult wise setter. Vanity never fuss before the walk or lunch, it is always waiting patiently and calmly when she invited to walk or snack. On the street she becomes active, is able to engage even the old and lazy dog in a game. She loves to run with other dogs and never concede in the race for the ball or stick. Vanity is young, but she has managed to surprise us with several remarkable victories at dog shows. We pin great hopes on her, not only in the show careers, but also in the field. <

Hunting - is a mandatory test for all our dogs. It is in the hunter's dog, when it feels the poultry it demonstrates its true natural instincts. We are confident that Vanity will pass this test with dignity. Aurora and Absolute have shown excellent results at dog shows. In the field trial and when hunting, they demonstrate a true gordons' work style! We are happy to be the owners of Aurora, Absolute and Vanity and are very proud of them! We love them tremendously, they are happy to take part in any family event or in a walk. They are able to cheer up any person with their kind and bright disposition.

Regretfully, there are few people in Russia interested in Gordons. The reason, in our opinion, is that there are few beautiful Gordons in Russia who would strike one with their gorgeous exterior.

In the last 50 odd years the dog breeding in America, Australia and Western Europe has been actively improving with preservation of gordons' best exterior-related and functional qualities. They have achieved great success there - sufficient to look at modern show dogs of American or Australian type. In Russia Gordons considerably stay behind in terms of exterior, taking most of them. This breed is rather scanty in Russia. The dogs excellent in exterior are so few that this hampers their breeding considerably. The only way for us left is active importation of the "fresh blood" from other countries.

Lately first imported dogs and first broods from overseas Gordons have appeared in Moscow and St. Petersburg. This yielded an excellent result. The imported gordons show wonderful results at dog shows and in the field trials. The puppies bred in Russia from other-country Gordons please the dog breeders with their health and excellent exterior. We shall not stop at what we have achieved. Besides, we hope for appearance of some more Gordons in our house. Our dream is having Gordons of American and Australian show lines! We believe that sooner or later this dream will come true.
